Jesus Over Everything

Wendy bought a t-shirt at the Festival of the Little Hills a few weeks ago, and today as I waited to hear from her, I was reminded of it's truth... Jesus is over EVERYTHING, including bone marrow biopsy results! I know many of us close to her had gotten ourselves a little worked up over what these lab/test results were going to show today, and this morning I kept hearing the Spirit redirecting those thoughts... "look at Me, not the waves."

Finally, my phone dinged with a text from her as she waited in the office! It read, "No leukemia" with some pretty happy emoji's to follow. So the "big ugly" is off the table, and for that we are THANKFUL!

So, what's next...

The oncologist is doing some additional labs for clarification purposes, but nothing major. Wendy and I keep laughing that it's no wonder her counts are low for all the blood they remove from the poor girl week after week!! Additionally, a hematologist (blood disorder specialist) will review her current file, as well as all the additional labs drawn today, to rule out any other blood disorders, including Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). MDS is a disorder of the blood in which the bone marrow does not produce enough healthy blood cells, so it is important that they clarify Wendy's risk level for this and continue to monitor it closely. For now, that means continuing the blood draws on a regular basis. Unless the hematologist says differently, no therapy is required right now, which is another HUGE PRAISE!

So, we wait again, but this time with a little lighter hearts...we can deal with this. It's not 100% healthy news, but it is WAY manageable and better than the ugly alternative! PLEASE continue to pray:

  • For clarity on the diagnosis
  • For NO additional concerns from the hematologist
  • For Wendy's labs to stay STABLE, or even INCREASE on their own (stable is GOOD even if they are lower than they would like)
  • For her energy and her overall health as we enter winter and cold/flu season
  • For ongoing PEACE
Thank you all so much for being TEAM WENDY-WOO. Your love and support matter hugely to Wendy and her family. We will continue to update you if there are any new developments, but today, we are PRAISING GOD for HIS FAITHFULNESS!

Blessings! K

God is Already There

Leaning on the truth of Scripture tonight as we wait for the test/lab results in the morning.

God is already there. His Word promises us so. He is also here now, ready to listen to our prayers! Can you lift Wendy, Andy, and the rest of their family up to Him tonight? Pray for perfect peace. For supernatural rest. For pure trust. For HIS strength. For NORMAL results.

Many blessings to each of you, and many thanks for the encouragement you have showered on Wendy this week! Please keep it coming!

Blessings as we pray together in faith tonight! K

She Believed She Could So She Did!

Our friend Wendy-Woo rocked her procedure this morning!! She is MORE than a conqueror! God clearly walked before her and stood by her side! Thank you to all who have prayed, sent encouragements, and prayed some more!

Wendy, along with her two favorite nurses, successfully completed her bone marrow biopsy today with no medications! Crazy girl got an extra dose of stubborn when God made her, but man, she is brave! Now, we wait. Her next scheduled oncology follow up is next Friday, September 8. The staff clearly explained NOT expect results before that appointment.

Please, please, please continue to pray! Pray for peace during this next week. Pray for joy, laughter, rest, and HOPEFUL, BLESSED ASSURANCE! We are praying for FUNCTIONAL, HEALTHY bone marrow!

Thank you for your continued support. Team Wendy-Woo is a FORCE to be reckoned with. NOT TODAY SATAN!

Many blessings! K

Calling all Woo-Warriors!

Hi Woo-Warriors!

I sure am thankful to say that it has been a long time since we chatted, but Team Wendy-Woo needs you. We need your hope, your encouragement, and your PRAYERS!

It has been 471 days since Wendy-Woo rang that bell at Siteman!!! As I write, I am still overcome with emotion and covered in goosebumps at the significance of that day. TO GOD BE THE GLORY! She has continued, of no surprise to you I am sure, to persevere, to push, to serve, to work, to play softball, and to care for her family and friends, since that very day.

So you may be asking, "things sound great...why do you need us to pray"!? During the course of her routine follow up with her oncologist over the past year and a half, there have been some labs that have failed to rebound since the end of her treatment. Specifically, the physician is concerned with the suppression of her bone marrow. Her red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets are not functioning at their "preferred" level. There are a lot of factors that could be causing this suppression, and some of those causes are SIGNIFICANTLY less preferred than others... but that is a conversation for another day- we will cross that bridge if necessary.

Tomorrow morning, Thursday, August 31st @ 10am, Wendy will undergo a bone marrow biopsy to determine the cause of her bone marrow suppression. She is a warrior in her own right, and will be undergoing the procedure awake with local anesthetic only. The procedure will take approximately 1 hour and she will be able to go home immediately. Of course the more painful part of this procedure happens after it's over- the waiting part! With the holiday weekend, it could be 5-7 days before they are notified of the results.

Thank you for locking arms as Team Wendy-Woo yet again. Your prayers mean more than I could express during this time. Of course, there is anxiety and uncertainty, but we will lean on one another and, more importantly, lean on our VERY CAPABLE Lord and Savior!

Specifically as you pray, pray for:

  • Peace today and in the morning (for both Wendy and her family)
  • A restful night's sleep
  • A calm exit to school tomorrow for all the kids
  • For NORMAL labs tomorrow
  • For a procedure that is as painless and easy as possible
  • For her favorite nurses as they prepare for the procedure
  • For her recovery - that it is swift and she is able to have a great family weekend
  • Of course, the results- that they are NORMAL and there is NO PROBLEM! Let's pray BOLDLY and in FAITH together!
Tomorrow, if you can, wear your TEAM WENDY-WOO SHIRT, which will remind you to pray often! Feel welcome to text encouragements over the coming days!

I give thanks for each of you. Many blessings as we find ourselves waiting together in HOPE for our friend Wendy-Woo.
