Hi Woo-Warriors!
I sure am thankful to say that it has been a long time since we chatted, but Team Wendy-Woo needs you. We need your hope, your encouragement, and your PRAYERS!
It has been
471 days since Wendy-Woo rang that bell at Siteman!!! As I write, I am still overcome with emotion and covered in goosebumps at the significance of that day. TO GOD BE THE GLORY! She has continued, of no surprise to you I am sure, to persevere, to push, to serve, to work, to play softball, and to care for her family and friends, since that very day.
So you may be asking, "things sound great...why do you need us to pray"!? During the course of her routine follow up with her oncologist over the past year and a half, there have been some labs that have failed to rebound since the end of her treatment. Specifically, the physician is concerned with the suppression of her bone marrow. Her red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets are not functioning at their "preferred" level. There are a lot of factors that could be causing this suppression, and some of those causes are SIGNIFICANTLY less preferred than others... but that is a conversation for another day- we will cross that bridge if necessary.
Tomorrow morning, Thursday, August 31st @ 10am, Wendy will undergo a bone marrow biopsy to determine the cause of her bone marrow suppression. She is a warrior in her own right, and will be undergoing the procedure awake with local anesthetic only. The procedure will take approximately 1 hour and she will be able to go home immediately. Of course the more painful part of this procedure happens after it's over- the waiting part! With the holiday weekend, it could be 5-7 days before they are notified of the results.
Thank you for locking arms as Team Wendy-Woo yet again. Your prayers mean more than I could express during this time. Of course, there is anxiety and uncertainty, but we will lean on one another and, more importantly, lean on our VERY CAPABLE Lord and Savior!
Specifically as you pray, pray for:
- Peace today and in the morning (for both Wendy and her family)
- A restful night's sleep
- A calm exit to school tomorrow for all the kids
- For NORMAL labs tomorrow
- For a procedure that is as painless and easy as possible
- For her favorite nurses as they prepare for the procedure
- For her recovery - that it is swift and she is able to have a great family weekend
- Of course, the results- that they are NORMAL and there is NO PROBLEM! Let's pray BOLDLY and in FAITH together!
Tomorrow, if you can, wear your TEAM WENDY-WOO SHIRT, which will remind you to pray often! Feel welcome to text encouragements over the coming days!
I give thanks for each of you. Many blessings as we find ourselves waiting together in HOPE for our friend Wendy-Woo.
