God places people in our life for seasons and purposes we rarely recognize before we need them...
Wendy has decided to go forward with her original treatment plan as prescribed by her oncologist. After much prayer, reading, overwhelming emotional uncertainty, discussions with family and a God-given neighbor who "just so happens" to be an oncology nurse, clarity and peace came.
Though Andy and Wendy know there are no "guarantees" on this path they find themselves traveling, they felt the most peace with the "tried and true" treatment regimen as opposed to a clinical trial with limited results available. When asking their nurse/neighbor, "What would you tell your sister to do?", she agreed: the standard protocol. While the clinical trial enticed Wendy with fewer total treatments and longer intervals between treatments, she doesn't want to take any shortcuts on her way to striking out cancer; so, they are playing it safe.
This kind neighbor was also able to speak a little more clearly about some expectations for chemotherapy, as well as offer Wendy the challenge, or "permission", to carry on with life as normal to the extent she can. This was also reassuring for them. Knowing that there are going to be occasional limitations, Wendy's greatest wish for this journey ahead is to still be the best wife and mommy she can be. Let's pray boldly for that, and help encourage her any way we can!
Thanks for standing in the gap for Wendy and Andy this week when she needed lifted up. I know their peace came as an answer to prayer. Please continue to pray for a sense of calm in the incredibly emotional and anxious days ahead. Look forward to some specific prayer requests and an update about the plan for Tuesday...
Many blessings. K
Our thoughts and prayers are with you this week!
ReplyDeleteMaking decisions right now is overwhelming. You want to be able to look back someday and say I did everything I could to get rid of this "monster" called cancer. It's going to be a rough ride. Hang on my sweet Wendy. Trust in the strength that only comes for our Heavenly Father. His peace and protection is covering you. Life's "interruptions " continue to remind us how precious life is and God's healing power and love. Love you and walking thru this with you...
